Maumelle resident celebrates 100th birthday

MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) - A woman born in Israel and now resides in Maumelle, Ark. will be celebrating her 100th birthday on Wednesday, April 15. 

Selma Salem Olaimey was born in Palestine, Israel. She became a citizen of the United States of America in 1999. 

Olaimey currently resides at The Lakes at Maumelle in Maumelle, Ark. where she plays bingo two times a week according to the HR/Payroll Manager Amanda Chatman. 

Olaimey and her family will be celebrating her turning 100 on April 15 at The Lakes at Maumelle. 

 

Maumelle firefighters rescue dog out of storm drain


MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV)- The Maumelle Fire Department saved an elderly dog from a storm drain on Monday evening.

A 14-year-old Yorkie named Ripley suffers from vision and hearing loss in his old age, and that's likely what caused him to fall into a six-foot hole and get stuck in a 200-foot drainage pipe.

When his owners called for help, Maumelle firefighters responded. After wading through the water in the dark, it took them about four hours to finally pull Ripley out.

He is in good condition and back home with his family.

Pulaski, Saline Co. see 12 arrests on 23 active felony bench warrants

UNDATED (KTHV) - Twelve individuals were taken into custody Monday, March 30 on 23 active felony bench warrants. 

The Saline County Sheriff's Office joined up with the Benton Police Department, Bryant Police Department and the United States Marshal's Service to conduct the arrests. According to officials, there were six teams comprised of over 30 deputies, U.S. agents and K-9 units holding the investigation.

 Following are the names, race, sex, ages and charges of the people arrested:

1.      Suzie Cox                    W/F     30 YOA          FTA for hot checks

2.      Constance Jackson    B/F      45 YOA          FTA for narcotic violations

WEST LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (LRS) – According to Little Rock Soiree, you can now find your favorite food trucks at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church on the fourth Monday of every month.

The magazine said you can expect the trucks to open shop between 5 and 8 p.m. at 20900 Chenal Parkway. It kicks off March 30.

Body of missing man found near Gurdon

Body of missing man found near Gurdon

CLARK COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Clark County Search and Rescue crews have found the body of a missing person.

Sheriff Jason Watson said the body of 24-year-old Wesley Livingston was found Tuesday sometime around 7:30 p.m. five miles from the Georgia Pacific plant in Gurdon where he worked.

Livingston was reported missing March 10. Following the issue of the missing person report, Clark County Sheriff's Office along with Ashley County Sheriff's Department, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Game and Fish Department, Arkadelphia Police Department, Gurdon Police Department, the Clark County Office of Emergency Services and other law enforcement agencies throughout southwest Arkansas joined efforts in the search for Livingston. 

According to police, the initial discovery of Livingston's body suggested that his death was self-inflicted.

Sherwood man arrested after dozens of dogs removed from home

SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) - A Sherwood man was arrested after 31 dogs were removed from his home Tuesday.

According to a Sherwood police report, when an officer arrived on scene, he could smell a strong odor of pet urine and feces from the street. The narrative details that adult dogs, as well as puppies less than three weeks of age, were gathered and removed from the home.

Packaging plant in Maumelle announces expansion plans


MAUMELLE, Ark. (AP) - Officials with Plastics Ingenuity are announcing a $2.5 million plan to expand the plant in Maumelle.

The Cross Plains, Wisconsin-based company plans to hire 10 more employees as part of the expansion that will increase production of the company's food packaging lines. There are currently 50 employees working at the plant.

The plant also produces plastic packaging for the cellphone and electronic industry and has been in Maumelle since 1993.
