Police ask for help after rash of Maumelle break-ins

MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) - A Maumelle neighborhood is shaken up after multiple thefts occurred Wednesday night. Now, police are investigating and looking for help as they try to find out who is responsible for 10 break-ins.

"Two o'clock in the morning, the last thing he wants to do is make a bunch of noise by breaking a window," said Maumelle Police Captain Jim Hansard.

He said the criminals go door to door checking for unlocked cars. And even though some see the area near Diamond Pointe and West Pointe as a nice neighborhood, Hansard said it isn't unusual to see crimes in that kind of area.

"This kind of thing can happen anywhere," Hansard said. "The perpetrators went into unlocked vehicles and took whatever they could find."

They took money, purses and even firearms. Most of the property has been recovered, but two of the guns are still missing.
