The verdict is finally in, and the Thea Foundation is grateful to announce a donation of $6,637.77 from the American Culinary Federation (ACF), sponsor of the first annual Governor’s Culinary Challenge which took place during the federation’s central regional four-day conference this past spring.  Pre-conference, the ACF’s central region members selected Thea as the beneficiary of this exciting new fundraiser held on Monday, April 29, 2013, at the Capital Hotel.

The Governor’s Culinary Challenge exhibited gourmet bites from the likes of celebrated chefs, including Mark Abernathy, Gilbert Alaquinez, Joel Antunes, Peter Brave, Stephen Burrow, Brian Deloney, Donnie Ferneau, Jason Knapp, Capi Peck, and Lee Richardson.  Governor and First Lady Beebe were in attendance, as well as other local celebrities such as Mike Ross, Christina Muñoz, and Chris Olsen.

Members of the ACF visited the Thea Foundation on Monday, July 15, to present a check to commemorate the success of the philanthropic event.  In attendance were ACF (central Arkansas region) President and Dean of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute at Pulaski Technical College, Todd Gold; Ben E. Keith (Little Rock Division) General Manager, Rusty Mathis; Simply the Best Catering owner, Rob Best; and Director of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute at Pulaski Technical College, Renee Smith.
