Arkansas A+ Schools announces new Executive Director Melanie Landrum

The Thea Foundation and Arkansas A+ Schools are pleased to announce that Melanie Landrum has joined our staff as the Executive Director of the Arkansas A+ Schools program.  Landrum has served as the principal of Pike View Elementary School, an A+ school in the North Little Rock School District, for the past two and a half years of her four-year career in the district.  Her professional experience also includes serving as a curriculum consultant for Literacy and Leadership Cluster Leader America’s Choice Inc. and the “Voices of Love and Freedom” School Design Model; serving as an adjunct professor of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership and Educational Psychology at the University of Memphis; and working as a principal, teacher and curriculum consultant in Memphis, Tenn., for over twenty-five years.

Landrum’s continual commitment to work with schools to develop strong leadership teams and to create a learning environment that is both challenging and creative deems her a perfect fit for the role of Executive Director of Arkansas A+ Schools.  Landrum began working for Arkansas A+ Schools last month and is happily settling into her new position.

Arkansas A+ Schools
Arkansas A+ Schools is a program of the Thea Foundation and is a research-based, whole-school network with a mission to nurture creativity in every learner through an arts-integrated lens.  A+ schools combine interdisciplinary teaching and daily arts instruction, offering students opportunities to develop creative, innovative ways of thinking, learning and demonstrating knowledge.  In Arkansas A+ schools, teaching the state’s mandated curriculum involves a collaborative, multi-disciplined approach with the arts — dance/movement, theatre, music, creative writing and visual arts —  continuously woven into every aspect of a child’s learning.
