MAUMELLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir, will be the featured choir with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Feb. 27 and Sunday, Feb. 28.

The Vesper Choir has performed with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in the past and has expressed joy to have been selected for this performance opportunity again. The choir will be featured in the performance of “Chicester Psalms” by Leonard Bernstein.

With Dr. Michael J. Bates as director and Mr. Andee Book as the Assistant Director, the ensemble has several notable performances including their 2015 spring tour to New York City, where they performed at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, NYC, the fourth largest Christian Church in the world; their 2006 performance tour to Italy, where they performed at the Vatican in Rome, at historic St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice and other performances in Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan.  The Choir has also sung at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and with the Arkansas Symphony in the concert version of “Porgy and Bess.”

The show will take place at the Maumelle Performing Arts Center on Saturday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 28 at 3 p.m.
