Alderman Preston Lewis asking for the return of Maumelle rings

Alderman Preston Lewis asking for the return of Maumelle rings
MAUMELLE, Ark. – Alderman Preston Lewis of Maumelle is leading residents to call upon Maumelle’s city government to bring back a former landmark in the Maumelle Rings. Since the 1980s, Maumelle residents traveling state highway 100 (Maumelle Blvd.) would always see two separate concrete rings marking the city limit boundaries on both sides of town. Road construction projects though forced the relocation of the rings. For the past decade the rings have been sitting on a trailer behind Maumelle’s Public Works facility.  Statement from Alderman Lewis: "I have asked Mayor Mike Watson about restoration of the Maumelle Rings since 2013, but I have been unable to get him to take action on the issue. For over a year, I wasn’t even told they were still in existence. Finally, I heard they were still in Maumelle, so I went and found them.

MAUMELLE, Ark. - Sonic Drive-In of Maumelle and Maumelle High School PTSO have joined efforts for the "Thirsty Fridays" events.

On the second Friday of each month, beginning on September 11 and through the end of the 2015-2016 school year, a member of the PTSO Executive Committee will pick up and deliver Sonic soft drinks to 15 administrators, office and counseling staff.

The soft drinks, donated by Sonic, are part of the Parent Teacher Student Organization’s ongoing efforts to recognize and extend appreciation to the school’s staff.  Jeff Herring, the organization’s Public Relations Chairman, and father of two MHS students said, “The PTSO is thrilled to be working with our local Sonic to provide drinks to the administration and other staff at the high school. We appreciate them and all they do for our children, day in and day out. And, special thanks to Sonic for donating the drinks!”

Little Rock Fire Department to offer free CPR class

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 31, 2015) – The Little Rock Fire Department is introducing an initiative to teach residents basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for use in emergency situations

The “Put Me in Chief” program will hold a free CPR class from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Little Rock Fire Training Facility at 7000 Murray St. The class includes a demonstration on how to provide primary emergency response in the event of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

Data provided by the American Heart Association show that roughly 70 percent of Americans feel helpless during a cardiac emergency because they either don’t know how to administer CPR or their training has lapsed. Additionally, some people are afraid they will hurt the individual in distress if they try to administer CPR.

Chiropractors give back to Conway by helping homeless

Chiropractors give back to Conway by helping homeless

CONWAY, Ark. - Doctors Brian and Merissa Beard, husband and wife, have been in Conway for a little over a year, and for the last three months they have been using their skills as Chiropractors to help the homeless.

Merissa says, "We were looking for somewhere to give back to our community. Conway has been awesome giving to us.”

The Beards had worked performing adjustments on Sundays at a homeless church while attending Parker University in Dallas. It was a logical step for the Beards to start helping the homeless through Bethlehem House, Conway’s homeless shelter.

“Chiropractic adjustments can help in tremendous ways. Anything from treating neck pain, back pain and headaches to helping people sleep better, to function better and for overall health,” Brian added.

The Beards perform chiropractic adjustments at the Bethlehem House once a week either on Monday evenings or Thursday afternoons.
