LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Police are investigating a case of aggravated animal cruelty after a woman reportedly found her dogs near a possibly abandoned home in Little Rock.

According to a report made by Little Rock police, a woman and her husband noticed that their two dogs were missing around 9:30 a.m. Sunday from their home. The woman reportedly noted to police that a couple of days before, one of the dogs' collars was replaced with an old one.

The woman told police that she spent the day putting out flyers and searching for the dogs before receiving a call that someone had seen them near a possibly abandoned home on Robinwood and Cantrell roads. When she went to the location, she told police she found them dead, nose-to-nose on the grass by a fire hydrant.

According to the report, she observed severe trauma to the dogs.

The responding officer detailed in the report that one dog had what appeared to be a severely broken jaw, and a possible gunshot wound to the abdomen area, while the other dog appeared as if she had been shot in the head.

According to Lt. Sidney Allen with the Little Rock Police Department, a suspect has not been determined. The case is reportedly being investigated as aggravated animal cruelty.
