Disney in Concert heading for Reynolds

CONWAY — Disney In Concert: Magical Music from the Movies will make a stop at the University of Central Arkansas’s Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall on April 16 to bring to an end the 2015-16 season of UCA Public Appearances. 

The 7:30 p.m. show is already sold out. 

Four Broadway stars will sing Disney songs, accompanied by the Conway Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Israel Getzov, CSO's music director and a UCA faculty member. The actors are Terron Brooks, Erica Dorfler, Juliana Hansen and Aaron Phillips. 

"Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies is the perfect end-note for the wonderful season we've had at Reynolds in 2015 and 2016," said Julia Dossett Morgan, the director of Marketing and Finance at Reynolds Performance Hall.

Wold renowned Kinsey Collection Comes to MTCC

Join MTCC for the opening of our largest exhibit to date, African American Treasures from the Kinsey Collection. This once in a life changing exhibit, that is currently on display at Epcot Center at Walt Disney World will open at MTCC on Friday, April 8, at 6PM. The exhibit contains rare, one of a kind artifacts that will be displayed in Arkansas for the first time ever. These artifacts work to dispel the myth of absence and demonstrate that African American history is American history.

The opening will feature a presentation by the Kinseys, refreshments, and live entertainment provided by Rodney Block and the Real Music Lovers.

UAPB Vesper Choir to be featured at ASO performance

MAUMELLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir, will be the featured choir with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Feb. 27 and Sunday, Feb. 28.

The Vesper Choir has performed with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in the past and has expressed joy to have been selected for this performance opportunity again. The choir will be featured in the performance of “Chicester Psalms” by Leonard Bernstein.

UCA receives $215,500 to support Nursing Department

CONWAY—The University of Central Arkansas Foundation, Inc. has received $215,500 to support the Nursing Simulation Lab in the Department of Nursing.

“Nursing has afforded me the opportunity to care for a lot of individuals,” said Elizabeth A. Blankenship, CEO of Southridge Village Nursing and Rehabilitation. “With our ability to gift to the nursing program, the students will have some of the best technology available to them, and I believe it will assist in their training and education.”

Blankenship, along with her daughters and fellow UCA alumnae, Ashley M. Blankenship and Gretchen E. Humphreys, made the gift in a presentation that included UCA faculty, staff and students.

UCA President Tom Courtway expressed gratitude to the Blankenship family, “Thank you very much for your generosity. Thank you, more than anything else, for believing in UCA and believing in this college and this department.”

UAMS Neighborhood Clinic opens in Maumelle

MAUMELLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has opened a new UAMS Neighborhood Clinic offering convenient, high-quality primary care services in Maumelle.

The clinic, located at 102 Town Centre Drive in Maumelle, is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday. It offers primary care services to those 12 and older.

UCA to host Tournées French Film Festival

UCA to host Tournées French Film Festival

CONWAY, Ark. (UCA) - Visit the French-speaking world without leaving central Arkansas through the Tournées French Film Festival at the University of Central Arkansas.

The Tournées French Film Festival is from October 30 to November 13 at the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center on the campus of UCA. An audience discussion with a panel of UCA faculty will follow each film, and refreshments will be served.

All films are free and open to the public, have English subtitles and will begin at 6 p.m.

A special family-friendly screening of the animated film “The King and the Mockingbird” will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 7. Refreshments and interactive games for kids of all ages begin at 5 p.m.
