State Fair 75th anniversary brings new eats

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - All the bells and whistles are getting pulled out for the 75th anniversary of the Arkansas State Fair.

Especially when it comes to food, the options are getting weirder and wackier.

New foods include spaghetti and meatballs on a stick, or try a fried avocado with a meatball center.

Looking forward to something with more sweet? Try fried peaches and creme or a fried s'more with a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

The fair's general manager said this will be the biggest fair yet.

"We put a little extra pizazz into our state entertainment is bigger this year. The carnival is bigger this year, going on through the week, and then the final night, after our final stage show, we are doing an outstanding aerial fireworks show," said Ralph Shoptaw, general manager.

Organizers say they are putting a big emphasis on the fair's history this year. They've been collecting archives and will sell a book on the history at the fair.

The fair begins this Friday, and run until Sunday the 19.
