Just Communities of Arkansas will present its newest youth program for middle school students this summer. In Our Own Voices is a writing adventure in which 6th, 7th and 8th graders will explore issues of identity, diversity, and understanding of others. The program will be held Monday through Friday, July 8-19, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. each day at the CALS Children’s Library and Learning Center in Little Rock.

In Our Own Voices is a writing workshop curriculum for middle-school youth that fosters cultural diversity and community while improving creativity, developing communication skills, and building self-esteem. Each day the students will be presented with writing prompts and then encouraged to write and share their own work.

Wild River Country opens for season

Wild River Country opens for season

A new and improved Wild River Country water park will open on May 18th.

Wild River Country’s Vice President of Operations Chris Shillcutt will lead a media tour of the property on Tuesday, May 14th after a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 am.   Shillcut will provide updates of the adventures to come to the park including a new attraction that will operate during the water park’s off season.

Aquapark Holdings bought the park earlier this year and has been working hard to transform the look and experience of the park.

Due to the winter weather, work crews had to wait till late March to build a new ADA bridge and renovate the water slides. The slides were refurbished and painted new colors for a brighter and smoother ride. New landscaping, cabanas and building enhancements followed in April and May.
