MUST SEE: Little Rock filmmakers score viral hit

ROLAND, Ark.(KTHV)- Mario Vs. Minecraft is a YouTube video gone viral. The two masterminds behind it are young filmmakers from central Arkansas.

Andrew McMurry and his cousin Matthew are making a name for themselves through their love for video games and film.

With close to three million hits in less than two weeks, the boys are making name for themselves through the internet.

Andrew says the video just took off.

"People seeing the video and they just click share to Facebook and all their friends see it."

Matthew says the video puts Nintendo's Mario up against a Minecraft gamer in the woods of Pulaski County.

"A lot of people have conversations like who would win in a fight? Would Mario win or this guy win? We've heard a lot of arguments like that before, so we thought, what if we just did something like that."

Both in their early 20s, the two aspiring Filmmakers have made their love for film full-time jobs.

Andrew says he never attended film school and all of his knowledge of special effects is self-taught.

"I've kind of taught myself to do it and it's really a fun thing to do for me because it takes patience and I have it I guess."

The duo said they've mastered the method to their YouTube success.

Matthew says just keep doing what you enjoy and others will enjoy your work.

"I'm literally doing exactly what I wanted to do when I was little, so I can't complain. I love it."

The short films have even landed Andrew a few freelance gigs.

"I have other jobs that I do, so yeah YouTube is giving me jobs. It's a nice full-time job which is weird to tell people."

This isn't their first YouTube hit. A few years ago Andrew's short film, Real Life Super Mario Brothers was viewed more than 13-million times.
