Master craftsman carving pumpkins in Maumelle

MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Halloween is a time when a few unique jobs get to show off, whether it's being a make-up artist or expert pumpkin carver.

In Maumelle, we found one man who is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to carving jack-o-lanterns. Johnny Angell creates works of art on pumpkins. He combines his carving skills with a lot of patience, both for him, his wife and his neighbors.

"I carve these in the house, so as I'm shaving the skin off I'm leaving little pumpkin chips and flakes all over the floor. But she puts up with me," said Angell.

Angell said he started to get elaborate with his carving about 10 years ago. He told THV11 that he only works with large pumpkins because it's easier to get a good pattern on them.

And the bigger and better the pattern, the better the final result.
