GoFundMe created for Maumelle kindergartner hit by car

MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) – A GoFundMe account has been set up for the family of a 6-year-old boy who survived being struck by a car at a crosswalk.

The accident happened around 7:15 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 outside of Pine Forest Elementary where Zachary Mathis is a kindergarten student. The driver of the SUV was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

According to the Mathis family, Zachary will be bedridden for at least two or three months as he recovers from his injuries.

Especially with the holidays approaching, the community wants to help the family in their time of need. In addition to financial donations, the group is also in search of new or used electronic devices, gaming systems with appropriate games, books or board games to keep his mind occupied while in the hospital.

Giftcards or gift donations can be dropped off at the Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Friday or at Pine Forest Elementary from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Friday.
