July Fourth forecast

High pressure continues to build into the state allowing temperatures to soar into the mid and upper 90's for the next few days. Rain chances remain less than 20 percent.

Monday: Mostly Sunny & Humid, High 98.

Monday Night: Very Warm and Muggy. Temps in the 80's. There will be a 30 percent chance of rain.

Tuesday forecast 6/28

Temps will not be as hot on Tuesday as a cool front sags into the state creating better T'Storm chances. Some storms could be severe with damaging winds the main threat. Regardless, the rain is needed.

Tuesday:Mostly Cloudy, 50% T'Storms, High 94 

Monday forecast 6/27

Hot and humid conditions will continue this week with very small rain chances over the next several days. A cool front will sag into Arkansas providing a chance of rain Tuesday and Wednesday, however, not all locations will see showers. More rain is possible just in time for the 4th of July Holiday Weekend.

Monday: Partly cloudy, hot and humid. High 95. Wind SW 10-15. An isolated shower possible north.

Arkansas’ unemployment rate increases to 7.8 Percent

Labor force data, produced by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics and released today by the Department of Workforce Services, show Arkansas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased one-tenth of a percentage point from 7.7 percent in April to 7.8 percent in May. Arkansas’ civilian labor force declined 3,600, a result of 1,200 more unemployed and 4,800 fewer employed Arkansans. At 9.1 percent, the United States’ jobless rate rose one-tenth of a percentage point.

DWS Communications Director Kimberly Friedman said, "Arkansas’ unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a percentage point in May, as the civilian labor force declined slightly.
