NLRSD's Crestwood Elementary receives Thea's Art Closet grant

The Thea Foundation is happy to announce that Crestwood Elementary School of the North Little Rock School District recently received art supplies through a donation from the Crestwood Elementary PTA and a matching grant from Thea’s Art Closet, for a total of $1,500 in art supplies for Crestwood.  Thea staff members delivered the supplies to Crestwood art teacher Jenny Delgado on Tuesday, March 26.

Crestwood received supplies from a customized list created by Delgado, varying from essential items such as drawing paper, acrylic paints and colored pencils to more sophisticated items such as modeling clay, India ink and Alphacolor pastels.  The collection of art supplies donated is curated to suit the grades represented by the school, and is predicted to last, at minimum, an entire school year.

Parkview High School Senior Art Show at Thea

The annual Parkview High School Senior Art Show will be on display at Thea from April 8 to 17 during regular gallery hours, culminating with a public reception on Tuesday, April 18, 6:00 to 7:30pm.

Parkview seniors are required to produce a series of artworks as part of a final project before graduation.  The students choose a specific theme or topic, and then create three to five artworks that address that theme.  Every year, the Parkview Senior Show exhibits atypically mature techniques and themes for high school students.  The Parkview exhibition has acquired a reputation for very realistic, relevant images and exceptional talent.

New cultural exchange program launched in Central Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK - The Council for Educational Travel USA (CETUSA) is looking for qualified families in Central Arkansas interested in hosting a student from abroad for the 2013-14 school year.

CETUSA, a non-profit organization that has been bringing international students to live and study in the United States since 1995, is expanding into Arkansas in an effort to increase international understanding of the Natural State, according to Scott Zielstra, who is leading CETUSA's efforts here.

"We want to build more insight about what Arkansas is really like and what it has to offer," Zielstra says. "Hosting a CETUSA student is also a way for families to become lifelong cultural learners with open minds and hearts."
