First Assembly of God NLR launches project to feed Ark. hungry kids

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (First Assembly of God Church) - The First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock, pastored by Reverend Rod Loy, launched a 10-week campaign to feed hungry children in xentral Arkansas on Feb. 1, 2015.

According to recent studies by child hunger experts:

·       Arkansas is the hungriest state in America.  Last year, 21.2 percent of households were at risk of hunger.

·       111,771 students in Arkansas qualify for free lunch (23.5 percent of all school children).  For many of them, the only full meal they get is at school. 

·       1 in 5 school children in Arkansas don’t have an adequate meal when they go home at night.

·       28.4 percent of children in Arkansas are food insecure – meaning consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources.

UCA television station available through U-verse

UCA television station available through U-verse

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - A station previously only available in Conway will no spread to various parts of Arkansas. 

The University of Central Arkansas' Channel 6 television station is now available on U-verse, Channel 99.

“I'm extremely excited to be able to reach a new audience through Channel 6's original programming,” said Chris Churchill, director of Channel 6 Television. “Now, thanks to AT&T U-verse, UCA students, family and fans can experience our programming from anywhere in central Arkansas.”

Channel 6 will cover from Little-Rock to Pine Bluff, including Benton, Bryant, Cammack Village, Conway, Haskell, Jacksonville, Little Rock, Maumelle, Pulaski County, Shannon Hills, Sherwood and Searcy.

​To access Channel 6's programming through U-verse, browse to U-verse Channel 99, which will display a list of available Public Education Government (PEG) channels. Click on Conway and then UCA Television.

Maumelle High Cross Country Team Repeats as State Champs

Coached by World History Teacher Nicholas Taylor, the Maumelle High School boys cross country team moved up to 5A this year and won their second consecutive Arkansas AAA Cross Country Championship on November 8, 2014, in Hot Springs. They finished the season ranked first in 6A and under and sixth place overall in the state. Hayden Anderson, Jordan Anderson, Justin Hines, Sean Adams and Caroline Sweet earned all-state honors from both the girls and boys teams.

Gifted students from all PCSSD elementary and middle schools are invited to visit the Scholars Program, a unique, comprehensive program for gifted and talented students. These visits will allow students and parents to see the Scholars Programs in action. 

Museum of Discovery educator to make 2nd appearance on 'The Tonight Show'

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Museum of Discovery)- Kevin Delaney, director of visitor experience at the Museum of Discovery, will make his second appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" at 10:30 p.m. Friday, November 7, on NBC. Delaney will be performing three science demonstrations with Fallon as his laboratory assistant.
